Students receive a new Wordly Wise packet every 2 weeks.  This year, these will be passed out on Wednesdays.  They have 2 weeks to complete the packet and learn the meanings and spellings of 15 words.  Packets are due on Tuesdays, giving me a chance to answer any questions and to review and return the packets that day.  The next day (Wednesday), students will take the quiz.  I read each definitions and give an example sentence, and the students write the (hopefully) correct word.  Each word is 2 points - 1 for the correct word and one for the correct spelling.  I also have a way to give credit for the correct spelling of the wrong word, but it's hard to explain!  

  I have attached a suggested schedule to make it easier to guide your child in time management.  It's not mandatory that they follow my schedule, as long as they finish the packet and turn it in on time, but it is the one I post on the board.  I hope it is helpful in avoiding procrastination.  

   Depending on your child's learning style, it might be helpful to study words with your child or assist them with flash cards.  At first, I will have you sign your child's test, but after a couple of quizzes, I'll stop that requirement unless it's necessary for a large amount of students.
