As a fourth grade "family," we take care of our absent friends until they return. Since students are responsible for keeping current on all missed assignments, a class scribe is assigned to collect work and record assignment details on a "While You Were Out" form which will await the absent student upon his or her arrival. All fourth graders have the same homework, so students are encouraged to call a reliable classmate to find out which assignments need to be completed.
