Dear Parents,

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or are confused about what your child needs to do.  Mrs. Dunn and I will be checking in with each parent once a week to give you updates on their online/work progress.  An email will be sent home to you on a specific day each week.

Monday- Allison, Athena, Brady, Braxton, Brendan
Tuesday-Dylan, Erica, Faith, Fiona, Jacob
Wednesday-Jed, Korina, Luna, Nathan, Patrick
Thursday-Ryan, Samantha, Sena, Sooho, Sophia

After spring break your child will be working on and turning in an Office 365 document to us on Fridays.  This will be a great way for them to show us what they are doing at home and we can check on their continued progress.

We hope you have a great week!
Mrs. Libby. & Mrs. Dunn

Week 2 Update

Dear Parents,
We are now in week 2 of home learning.  We hope your child is getting used to the new rhythm of the day.  We have just posted a few math videos on the home learning site.  Please check them out.  The videos would be great to watch before your child completes their math work each day.

This is what Mrs. Dunn and I are looking for on a typical day:
45-60 min. of math, Reflex or Khan
45-60 min. of reading-
30 min. of writing their animal report paragraphs

Please let us know if their work is taking much longer than this.

We wanted to explain the online programs a bit.  Some sites give us more information than others.
Reflex-We hope all will pass and move onto Khan.  We check this often.
Khan is good for videos starting at the beginning and building on to more complex  problems.
iReady Math & iReady Reading
These sites are great. All students in our class have access to them both.   Both adapt to what your child needs.  They will review a skill or move on if your child is ready.  These sites also give us very detailed data about your child's strengths and areas of weakness in math and language arts.
Epic- this is a fun site where your child can enjoy a good book.

Epic!_ Unlimited Access to the Best Books and Learning Videos For Kids 12 and Under (Click here for our class code.)

Dear Parents,
We hope you are well.  Yesterday you were sent an email inviting you to join Epic for your child.  This is a free site offered until June.  Mrs. Libby's son uses it in his class and he said it's awesome because they have cool new books, great read alouds, and learning videos.  This is kind of like a virtual book log.  It lets us know who logs on and how long they stay on the site.  It also tells us who looks at the books and who looks at the videos. The videos can be omitted if needed as well.

Think of this as a fun educational resource to use in your child's spare time if they don't have a good book to read.  If you did not get the email just let Mrs. Libby know.
Take care-Mrs. Libby & Mrs. Dunn
