all right good morning this is your science for moving to the next lesson in the chapter and it is on volcanoes another way we can have fast changes on Earth's surface you need to have your own book in front of you because I know the video is not great quality assessor for seeing the pictures in the diagram but I will read it and you can follow along in your own Trump needs to 6262 it says main idea that into changes to earth's surface can be caused by volcanoes what is a volcano volcano is a mountain that builds up opening in Earth's crust sometimes melted rock gases and pieces of rock are forced out of out of a volcano this is called an eruption a volcanic eruption can cause land did you ever shake a can of soda and then open it the gas is inside the soda explode in a spray when somebody knows erupt something similar happened come to the surface when gas escapes easily there is a gentle eruption when trapped gas is build up pressure and magma this is the kind of eruption that happened in May of 1980 and if you look at the picture down here. Helens before eruption it blue giant crater into the mountains picture showing you the magma chamber where the magma is inside the earth and then it travels up eventually erupting out we call it magma when it's inside and lava wants that hot melted rock. underground is called magma on the surface is called lava but both of those are melted rock the vents of the opening where would slow Rising magma you know that magma is found deep Earth's surface through a central opening in a volcano is called Earth's surface it is called lava from the volcano slowly another time that leads the volcano in Islands there is chain of islands as the plate moved over the hotspot Island was formed slowly over time as it moves whenever that crossword about the hot spot in Island would form the island the further away they are from the Hawaii is the youngest Island it is still forming over the hotspot this means that the volcano is still erupting the island of Hawaii is the oldest island it is a dormant volcano volcano no longer erupts no longer USA volcanoes what are some kinds of volcanoes not all volcanoes are the same difference between depends on the kind of lava that erupts from the diagrams on these Pages show some kinds of volcanoes a cinder cone volcano it has steep sides the magnet in this kind of salty never said a lot of gas is trapped in the micro because it can become volcano has sides that are wide and flat it is formed by layers of lava that build up over time play Flow from one or more opening the Hawaiian Islands are an example of shield volcanoes composite composite volcano is made up of and it's warm during periods of quiet eruptions and explosive eruptions the eruptions team to take turns and wrap them maybe it's maybe explosive one time have a quiet. overtime the layers build up to this kind of volcano is usually symmetric that means the shape on one side of the reminders are three diagrams of the three different singer Colin composite how can you windows and doors make sure your pets are inside if you are caught outdoors find the nearest shelter and stay inside you are going to be doing a kind of work with this lesson instead of the regular vocab pages and close test drawing those three diagram to see it later in the week because this is the last we're going to study together you don't need to do it this week but anybody who wants the
