okay this is your review video to help you get ready to take the assessment that is going to be open today Thursday and will close tomorrow and tomorrow so this assessment is going everything from chapter 10 that we've talked about and do a little bit of review of fractions so we're going to start with line Ray and line segment that we talked about instructional videos and you had to use them to complete the task for this pastor so let's just review what a line array and line segments are and what they look like let's start with mine so line is going to a geometric figure that goes on and on in both directions which is shown with arrows this is a line that goes on infinitely in both directions a ray is going to be one edema to figure where it has one and 20 stops at one point and then continues and then finally line segment is like a piece of a lion so it's as if you took a piece of this line and took it out and it is going to have to because it stopped the line segment Ray array see the first picture and you're asked to identify what kind what are these These are to what you're going to say okay there's no Arrow just so if a figure has two endpoints we would say that the line segments and remember you can always make note to use during your assessment so if you want to draw a quick little drawing for yourself but you have those notes during assessment you can do that line segments have to end all right if you see a figure where they then you know that you're looking at a line line Salon in both directions so we always put arrows on both sides and if you are looking at assessment you are going to be asked to identify what kind of figure are you looking at another thing that will be on the assessment are these use them a lot in the last few weeks parallel and perpendicular so you're going to need to know the rough definition you don't need to have it memorized this is generally what is the definition of parallel and what is the definition of perpendicular and like I said you don't have to memorize word for word but just generally if you needed to explain to someone why you should be so what does parallel mean and it could be Lines line segments or Rays Alexa say two lines never cross and another word for cross is intersect are said to be parallel so if we can tell parallel if we can tell that two lines look like they will never intersect then we know that they're parallel actually these are parallel line segments these are parallel rays so they parallel does the shower one more time if you see two pairs of lines or line segments or rays that look like they stay and equal distance apart like they won't cross even if even if I went to Macy's longer they still wouldn't cross we say that these are parallel lines so how is perpendicular difference call perpendicular first of all means that they are going to cross lines or Rays or line segments that are going to cross and they're going to Cross or intersect in a special way to form a multiply the numerator and the Bottom by the same number you are going to so if I said to you I want an equivalent fraction for 3/8 USA Rhonda to multiply the top and the Bottom by the same number so maybe I'm going to multiply the top by 2 and the bottom 3 * 2/8 * 2 3 * 2 + 6/8 * 2 + 16 so we know 3/8 is equal to 16 add multiplying to check to see if something is equal to let's say you have for fish and you have 20 / 25 and someone says art equal or not equal will the way that you would check if you would say 4 times what equals 24 times can you check the bottom and say does five times equal 25 if it does then we say are equal if it has some questions like this you're going to be given a fraction find the one choices that is equal to 1/5 we're looking for one of these that's equal to 1/5 probably the easiest way to shooting in your head you could certainly write it and paper on paper, paper or at least just imagine the fraction you're working with next to each of these next two all of them so we passed him by saying 1 times what equals 3x * 3 so does 5 * 3 equal 8 no answer 1 times give this poor so does 5 * 4 equal 25 1 * 3 equals 3 * 5 * 3 equals 15 so that would be a correct would be our choice this is 3 * 226 + 7 * 2 equals 21 no three times with no whole number here three times nothing equals 5 and 7 times something equals 9 either both fully reduced always check to make sure they're reduced if you're thinking I can't multiply to get their check for reducing but these are both fully reduced so they're not going to be equal to each other which fraction is 15/20 right away when I start writing 15/20 next to these I'm going to notice that there's no multiplying 15 times something to guess it is either smaller number so if I'm not multiplying to get fraction that I'm probably doing the opposite which is dividing we call reducing the fraction so when I see a question like this and I noticed that the fraction given is not reduce my first it's going to be a lot easier to work with if I reduce this fraction first so I'm going to take 15 20th and I'm going to reduce it further than telling you there is a question on the assessment there's an unreduced fraction in the question I recommend you reduce it first so I'm thinking what can I do what can I divide 15 and 20 I can divide them by 5 20 / 5 is 415 / 5 is 3 so 15/20 reduces to 3/4 or 15/20 is equal to 3 that means if I can find a fraction down that's also equal to 3/4 I'm going to know which one is my answer say so if you start standing like this is time to that's not time to it looks like times too and that also looks like x 2 3 x 2 + 6 for X to date that's looking good and it's when does not work so it looks like my answer answer is 6/8 I've been able to get to that unless I had first reduce the fraction all right so that's the review for the quiz if you want to watch Sword if that's what if you want to watch it more than once if you want to take notes you can definitely do that
