good morning for Savers today on your checklist assessment listed and last night I sent a link through the email you can click on it and this week is going to be on angles and how is a protractor to measure angles questions that reviews on decimal Concepts that sometimes had trouble with last week on the quiz that you took last week so I'm going to go through all the kinds of questions that'll be on the review for a test in the classroom a couple of days before we take the test I'll go up on the Whiteboard and we'll practice the kinds of questions that will be on the test this is the same thing so you should watch this video and you can you can even take notes and write down the things that we're going over here and used during the assessment that you take if you want to and it's okay to stop the enticement go back and look at the video use this video to help you do your best on your test with that you're going to take today so the first few questions on this type of angle it is so remember we classify how many degrees is the angle is made up of and we started this week with two videos introduced types practice drawing different types of angles the first time that we went over acute so remember an angle is an acute angle if it has fewer 90 degrees if you were told that an angle had say 47 degrees Tanglewilde 12 degrees. An acute angle is an angle was 89 degrees is an acute angle anything less than 90° quickly might look like remember 90° is like the corner of a rectangle so anything that looks more closed than a corner of a rectangle is going to be accused so here's just a quick example of an acute angle if I were to measure this I can tell it's acute because I know it's smaller than a right angle this one's about 38 degrees we need a curve then we talked about right angles so right angles are angles that are exactly 90 degrees has to be 90 degrees today and so again those are going to look like the corner of a square or rectangle something like it might be turned or Twisted in a different direction but it's exactly 90° all right acute right angle 90 degrees then we talked about obtuse angles so obtuse angles are those angles between 90 and 180 are greater than 90 greater van 90 degrees 180° so if you were told you had a hundred 50 degree angle stops greater than 90 less than 180 if you were told you had a 102 degree angle that is greater than 90 less than 180 angle 170° obtuse anything that's greater than 90 less than 180 is going to be an obtuse angle and what that might look like so those anger are going to be more open more open than a right angle so a right angle with trying to go up like this and obtuse angle is going to look more open a more open is great but it's not going to make it all the way to straight line because a straight line would be 180 degrees case of obtuse greater than 90 less than 180 and then we have straight angles so it's straight just like it sounds that's a straight line straight angle makes a straight line it is exactly 180° hey so it's only a straight angle if it's exactly 180 degrees and it's going to look like a straight line except it's going to have some of those markings of an angle so vertex and occur exactly 180 degrees and then we talked about one more type of angle and that was reflex angle reflex angle is going to be one that is greater than 100 Raider van 180° say so if someone says alright you have a 300 degree angle stops reflux if someone says you have a 197 degree angle greater than 180 + 312 degree angle reflex 293 degree angle greater than 180 that's reflex we draw the same as the ones where we end up drawing a smaller angle outside thanks for going to practice some more today on the assessment you're not drawing any angles you're just going to be looking at them I will practice more drawing and that'll be accessed later on so better reflux by the look at it you would notice that it's one of those angles where the curd almost seems like it's on the outside of it because it is identifying outside bigger or reflux greater than 180° they say it's greater than 180 that's going to be a reflex angle if you want to that would help you during the assessment all right also on the list there are going to be some questions where you're given something like this in the question it's going to have an angle to put in your workbook this week is going to have an angle and the angle protractor already placed on top of it a couple of the questions are just going to ask you about which scale inner scale on the inside or outer scale potato remember the protractors at and some of yours at home may not look exactly the same but a lot of protractors have two scales on them it helps you to measure angles that are opening in either direction so are protractors have inner scales inner scale and powder scale and if you're out in the question which scale do you use how do you decide that do you want to see where zero is that lines up with the angle so on this protractor there are two zeros there's a zero right here and there's a zero right here I'm asking myself with zero lines up with an angle so there's no angle over here so over here is a 0 in lines up with one side of that means that I want to use scale that that zero is on so I look at with scale it is and that 0 is on the inside scale the inner scale so to measure this angle I use the inner scale and then if I and I'm thinking which scale do I use I'm looking to see which 0 they did not use the euro so that means I want to use the outer scale this Gyros on the outer scale Daniel have a couple questions that look like this also and they're going to actually ask you how many degrees the angle measures so you're still going to have to take which are they using and once you decided follow that scale until you see the second Ray or line segments of the angle so I'm this one we've already decided it's the inner scale I'm going to track those numbers on the inner scale until I see that second side here it is and I'm going to make my best estimate it won't require you to have the perfect exact degree as long as you're within a couple degrees the final right answer this one's between 30 and 40 on the inner scale so I would probably guess about 35 degrees and then I would look for the answer choices that are around 35 degrees this one is already decided we're going to use the outer scale because that's where the zero is so I need to follow the outer scale around until I reach the second side of the angle there it is so it's falling 140 + 150 really close and we can see it's not exactly in the middle the middle right here I'll be 145 it's not quite there I miss a post 144 so then I would look on the answer choices and say well what's the closest to 144 and make that choice all right those are the kinds of angles then there will be a couple questions on decimals arguing but we worked on a few weeks ago converting fractions 2 minute so remember that decimals decimal place value you have a whole number like the ones calling maybe a three there then you have the tenth place and then you have the hundreds place so when we first started learning decimals and changing a fraction to a decimal we focus only on decimals for Ansari on fractions that had denominators of 10 or denominators of 100 because those were easiest to do is it in if it has a denominator of 10 is going to be converted into tenths the for example if you have 9/10 because it has a denominator so 9/10 become 0.9 if it has a denominator of a hundred you know it was over two spaces so if it was 17 over a hundred it would be from 0.17 G and some of you had trouble on the assessment last week was when the denominator was not ten or a hundred so for example if it has a denominator let's say it was to 5th and you're looking at that thinking well it's not a 10 it's not a 100 I'm stuck what do I do and the answer is you need to look at that fraction and say how can I turn that denominator into either a ten or a hundred and the way we can do that with a V is by multiplying by 2 so if as long as we multiply the top and the Bottom by the same number we're still going to have an equivalent fraction rule so 5 times what gets me to 10 5 x 2 x 2 x 2 on the top 5 * 2 * 2 * 2 is for now I have it Dominator 10 just like I had to denominator of 10 up here so 4/10 is going to be equal to 0.4 example essay I had 3 / 5 how do I get from 5 to 10 i x two on the top and the bottom 5 * 2 is 1003 * 2 is 6 now I have a denominator * 6/10 is going to be zero hey so if you have a 5 or if you had a 2 as a denominator * 5 year you're going to convert it to 10 but if you look at the let's say it was 25 maybe you have a 23/25 and you're thinking will ice can't multiply 25 to get home can I turn on can I turn that number into 110 25 be multiplied equal 100 in the answer is yes 25 * 4 100 so I need to do the top in the bottom * 425 * 4 is 123 times for you can probably do that in your head but if not go to the side x it out you're going to get 9 100 once I have a denominator of hundred I know I'm just going to turn into one more example last one first thing you think is wait a minute I don't have a denominator of 10 or a hundred so how can I turn 20 into either 10 or a hundred by multiplying so you're not going to turn it into 10 but you could turn it into 100 so you have to think 20 times what equals 120100 how many times 20 * 5 what's 120 * 5 from the top * 520 * 5 is 111 * 5 is 55 fraction with a denominator of 100 turn it into the basketball 0.55 all right so when you finish watching this video you're going to click on the link email yesterday I'll also try and post assessment if you want to while you're taking it you can pause it and review the video if you think you need a little extra help but make sure you finish that assessment and submitted 9 tomorrow but hopefully sometime
