hey good morning this is instructional video number two on Engels we're going to continue working on drawing angles using a protractor so if you watch the video turn on over the basics about angles we through an angle that was 80° and then we started going over the types of angles we did a cute witch remember are angles that are fewer than 90° while also going over the different types of assets to attend control your protractor and some blank paper all right so we talked about acute and right angles the next type of angle we're going to talk about our obtuse so obtuse angles are angles that are greater than 90° you were than 180° so bigger than a right angle but fewer than 180 degrees and we're going to get some so these are in between a right angle and a straight line so let's try drawing one we're going to call this for our w z and since we need it to be greater than 90 and less than 180 why don't we try 100 20 degrees remember when we're constructing an angle we want to start by destroying one side of the angle with a straightedge and protractor as the first thing I'm going to do is draw one side of the angle you can have your side going in any direction I'm going to have it going this way play there's one side of the angle and then we want to decide which he's going to have the vertex of the angle my ankle I can have it open down this way or I can have it open this way I think I'm going to go in this direction so now I have one side the protractor either measuring tool remember yesterday we talked about how on the protractor the sort of upside down scene this part right here is going to go on do Arbor text on a slide onto Arbor text and then you want to rotate the protractor so that's this side here is coming out at 0 the protractor until the sidelines up with zero notice Mikey now has slid off the vertex from the Carefree slide that back on checking to make sure I keep the zero gear set a reminder for Sarah over text on the upside down T and I want to go to 120 degrees inner scale 0 ten all the way past 90 past 100 past 1:10 until I get to 120 it's a 120 right here I'm going to swallow that out and just put a little. the marker 120 has a protractor off and now I can use it as a straight edge again to connect the vertex to the point I made can I have my hundreds how every time you draw One angle you're actually creating to angle is that the one that we wants and then we measure here but there's also a big angle out here so I always want to draw the curved so that people know which part I'm talking about we're going to label it with the letters remember the rule that whatever letters in the middle neither side has line segments or if you want to you can add Sarah's this is an obtuse angle is greater than 90 but less than 180 degrees and we're ready to go to the next type of angle obtuse is between 90 and 180 straight angle and a straight angle is just what it sounds like it's a straight line and it is going to be exactly 180° if you look at your protractor the numbers on your protractor can you follow Satan 0c are all the way around you're going to see that it stops at 180 directly across from it so a straight line is exactly 180 degrees to measure out a hundred and eighty degrees or 180 degree angle straight line I want to add something to it to make it look like we need an angle not just a line segment right here so hjk that means the vertex needs to be set I'm going to go ahead and draw a Vertex on here going to add the letter j I'm going to add my points A and K I want to add arrows one last step to make sure people know that we are talking about the angle here is to add the curb you could add the curb on the bottom because this is a hundred eighty degrees the curb on the top because this is a hundred and eighty degrees. we're just looking at a half circle so it's a hundred eighty degrees and there is our straight angle angle hjk 180 degrees all right. One more type of angle to talk about and drawers today that is a reflex angle bereavement angle that is greater than 180° 80° because there's always an angle on the outside those were reflex angles all those angles on the outside so here we drew the right angle that would be a reflex angle and 80° angle 300° angle angle a angle now there's something called if you have a full circle protractor you can just measure it out a full circle protractor goes 360° find the number 300 on it and use it to draw the so are the only goes to 108 what we know so is that a school Circle is equal to 360 degrees we know that we want to do three hundred degree angle so if we were going to do a full circle all the way around it would be 360 we don't want to go white all the way around we're going to go close to 300 degrees and stop just short of a full circle how many degrees is three hundred how many big how many degrees less than a full circle that means we're going to be 60 degrees away from a full circle 60 degree angle marked the part of it that shows 300 degrees degree angle so I'm just going to start we're going to put a Vertex on it remember I'm trying to get to a 338 angle but I must protractor 60 degree angle her peers and I'm telling everyone that's what I did but I don't want them to focus on the 60 degrees Turn part of the angle with its 300 degrees a 300° angle instead of a 60 degree angle is I put the curb on the outside all the way around for my purse now I'm telling I'm here the angle I want you to look at not this 16 here but the 300 that's left out here I took 60 degrees away from it and I've got three hundred left out here and now we label just like usual can go on one side and V on the other day so this is a 300 degree angle from here all the way around here that's called a reflex angle greater than 180 you have some workbook pages
