good morning this is Monday video it's an instructional video we're going to work on angles this time you don't need your work  but you need your protractor hopefully you pick them up from school or you have your own and you need a pencil we're going to be working on constructing angles basically drawing angles so I'm going to switch from pencil to 10 to see you guys in Seattle on Saturday play I remember you can pause the video anytime if you need to watch the time to draw what we're drawing so we're just going to start with how to use a protractor to draw an angle so a protractor the math tool helps us draw and measure angles remember all the numbers on this protractor are the degrees of the angle and Arc from tractor that were using metal protector to the doctor has two scales it had what we call an inner scale numbers on the inside outer scale with numbers on the outside and that allows us to measure angles that open in both directions in other words if I have a name Direction up like this then I'm going to be using Interstate 03 here and the angles move up in this direction if I have an angle that's open more like this marijuana use the outer scale where you would see the zero on the outside and the number is moving in this direction and we're going to work on that. start to use the protractor to measure angles but that's why there are two scale degrees and we use the protractor to construct and I remember first of all the parts of the name Eastside Derby line segments like disease that stop or they can be raised that have the arrows besides a razor line segments and then there is a point where those things connect and that's called the vertex the point where they need to warn you ahead of time because the protractor is shining it's going to keep throwing the video off but I'll just keep pausing it trying to get it back for you Acura parts in triangles stop the madness start and you can do this one with me we're going to start by drawing one side of the angle was nice about our protractor is that it works to measure the Angles and also work as a straight edge straight line segments or red so I'm going to start by doing it basically horizontal it doesn't have to be perfectly horizontal but horizontal line about that long mark one side of that line segment with a point and that point is going to become the vertex of our angles I'm going to go ahead and market over here. It doesn't need to be big enough that you can see it clearly now that's the vertex of our angle so let's say we're going to do and 80° 80 degrees I have the vertex and the first side I'm going to use the protractor to measure the 80° I'm going to have my angle opening list from the side here in this direction 74 - - 2 you guys remember this Triangle Center open from here in this Direction all right that means that my zero is going to be where this side is so if you look at the vertex right here on the estate if it's upside down T you find it look at the protractor V is upside down t right there at the center of the TV is where we're going to place the vertex of our angle so if you wash and just going to slide the protractor down right on top of the vertex and then I want to rotate the protractor so that's a zero right ear is lined up with this side of the Angels all right we want to make sure that vertex is still on the T and we want to make sure that the side is coming out as 0 and it is and remember I said my angles going to open in this. now there's a couple of things and want to add to the tangle to make it complete first of all we always wanted so where we measured they so we're going to brought her there to show that we started here and we went in this direction and then we also want to add letters to name our angle so remember if you watch the video on Friday we talked about how angles are named with three letters so I'm and draw everything that I drop okay so we're going to talk about the first type of angle remember on Friday I mention that we classify angles number of degrees so the first type of angle that we're going to talk about is the acute angle acute measure less than 90 degrees you are the 90 degrees 3 hour degrees sorry about the focus having a hard time you're the 90 degrees is an acute angle an angle measuring 27 degrees and angle measuring 32 degrees and angle measuring 89 degrees 89.9 degrees 1 degrees C or the 90 degrees is going to be a cute try one of those are 80° angle that way outer scale it counts by 10 so is 0 10 20 30 40 15 15 is not actually on the protractor but we know that 15 Falls between 10 and 20 has exactly halfway between we're going to look for that pathway little bit bigger and put our point right there at 15 we're going to slide the protractor off and we're ready to connect our vertex to that point straight edge creating the second side of the angle I'll leave you the straight edge when you're drawing angles so that are accurate or we can call it complete first thing we're going to add is the curve to show where we measured because actually whenever you draw One angle create two angles angle is the angle that we were intending to draw but out here this big out here side is what we call a reflex angle is a second angle I don't want anybody to look at this and think that I meant to stay outer angle so I'm putting this herb so they know that this is the angle I want you to look at when we draw a refund outside the letters this is
