good morning for Traders hope you guys are well today so if you'd like to follow along and get your video and make sure you have your work book and a pencil ready to go the workbook on the front screen just like I do and you can follow along just like you would if you were in the classroom so today you're Simon and 22 Amazon adding and subtracting decimals starting chapter 8 this is Kate 21 and it starts with a D the first quick reminder on the place value with decimals so we were going to drop safe value chart the one column phone numbers over here and then test thousands ten thousands. right thumb which is 3/10 + 0.5 which is 510 writing it in 5/10 with equal 8/10 number word form and then we're going to write it as a decimal 0.808 is equal to 0.2 is equal to this is a total of 10 tents and if you remember 10 tens is the same as the $0.10 is equal to one whole one next one week 0.7 which would be 710 + 0.7 which is another 7/10 7/10 + 7/10 is equal to 14 tenths and again if you want to think of that as a fraction 14 / 10 mixed number 1 + 4/10 and then if we write that as a decimal 1.4 or 1 4/10 2009-10 9/10 + 810 equals 17/10 as a fraction 17/10 + like this 1 + 710 and one whole and 7/10 becomes 1.7 find Messer rewind to get some of that you can go back but I'm going to go ahead and turn to page 22 alright so here they're adding numbers that have remember how the workbook will kind of show you the whole problem and then break it down step by step some to go ahead and solve it on the problem where it's written vertically and then we'll look at how they're showing you the steps 4.8 + 3.6 for some of them already lined up the decimal points which is really important when you're adding decimals that you line up the decimal points that you're adding bring the decimal point down into the answer and then start adding in the smallest columns 8 + 6 + 41/1 + 4 is 5 intense first 8/10 + 6 * 14 and then we're going to read so we have 14 text that's equal to 1 1 and for leftover test again that's what you wrote here for tents and the one what are the wasp start answer we're doing the one part now so we had four ones in the original problem plus the one one that we carry they want you to ride for 1 + 3 1 + 1 so therefore the answer to 4.8 + 3.6 is 4 where we riding with a once in a tenth digit it's not broken. So we're just going to do our normal already lined up the decimal point so I'm going to go ahead and bring the decimal point 5 + 388 + 2 is 6 + 6 + 12 + 1 + 6 + 1 is 808 + 2 answer write in vertical form then I have to write it in vertical for make sure you line up the decimal points write the decimal point I like to do that before I read the second number so I make sure it's lined up and then I'm going to put in 3:28 to 3 and then I'm going to go ahead and write the decimal 7 + 8 + 61 + 5 + 6 + 3 + 9 + 1 + 4 answer 22.9 in vertical form 9 + 1 + 3 + 7 1 + 2 is 3.1 stop Mark that you're going to be fired
