hi boys and girls this video is to help you understand how to do the research and the writing writing notes we're going to use multiple sources so we are going to go at Leo and watch 6 super short videos they are a total of 20 minutes and they are labeled Gold Rush video number 2 3 4 5 6 and 7 and I found that no matter what I usually can find something I'm searching multiple sources so you're going to look there then you're going to go to Epic and you're going to look at three books I already pushed these books out to you so you will find this one is called California life during the California Gold Rush the California Gold Rush and we're not reading the books so let me tell you how we're going to do this and what I'm going to show you first off my great little white board I bought and I've been using it for all the way through By the Great Horn Spoon but now I had to buy another one look look at this I had to buy the grandpa look how big this new it's ginormous this is what you do with the book this is how you review a book cover to cover epic and you're going to thoughtfully and slowly flip through the pages your objective is you want to ignore all the information you already know where are searching for Unique facts so we're looking for the gold nuggets of information we don't want the pyrite we don't want the common knowledge that everybody already knows the first thing I would suggest is that you noticed all the text features and if you remember what text features are these are some titles with subtitles what kind of images are in the book or the source are there photographs drawings charts grass diagram I'm going to give you an example I'm going to do one for you you two just f*** I'm going to show you to these are just too I had at my house obviously is a simp on Gold Fever there's a little more advanced and it has primary sources I can r I see a photograph that's a real Source versus just a drawing when I looked for this book is kind of a baby book most of the stuff I already knew yeah yeah yeah where they come from how they get the gold dog fever who did it but I found when I got to one page I found something new here that was really interested they were talking about how they were advertising and he said they were telling people that if they went to California and they wrap themselves they rub their bodies full of grease California gold grease $10 rub your body roll down hill there's so much gold there gold and gold only will stick to your skin this is quite an exaggeration right so I want something new to me that I saw another thing I saw because I already know about the route I'm going to go back and look at these Pages carefully cuz these are stories true stories about some how some people actually found gold accidentally that was really interesting to me when I saw how these miners bumped into the goal and also it's for the end of this book with something else I didn't know it was all about how the people who became Rich weren't really miners they were people who stayed to start bakeries people who were Carpenters people who did the laundry there's a lot of information here that I didn't know even though this looks kind of like a baby book so I want to I want to tell you that the three books are looking at on Epic they will have things you know and things you don't know so I can I mention to you you should look at text features what title subtitle captions graphs charts diagrams some of the primary sources with quotes about people said during the time I don't want to be time on things I already know about I already know about the route I already know about the gold Seekers being that guy's face a lot I already know about life in the camps we talked about that I wanted you to something I do Paige said in minors own words and I know it's on this page there were a lot of date and a lot of quotes from real people don't interesting to me okay and this is called tall tales of the Gold Rush is what kind of a fun page because it also told how people made their Fortune accidentally and the page I really like to talk about how minors play jokes on people who were brand new and they would tell them a lot lot of things just to get them doing kind of crazy things books you're going to be looking at their job books I have at my house but the three books that you're going to see on a Kinect I lost it during pushing out to you I want you to take I want stereo I want you to take your time and read through them thoughtfully and slowly flip through the pages you're not reading the book you're looking for information queso were using these as multiple sources so you're going to watch some videos and you're going to look at three blocks and you're going to see if you can collect some notes because we're going to need those note so don't send them to me why do I'm keep them all right have fun researching
