this is Friday's not working today in your work if you have Pages 147 and 148 and this is about composite which are basically shapes that are made up of more than one shapes you look at the example you can see that this looks like and we're going to be working on Signing Day perimeter of these composite figures so perimeter same definition is always it's the distance around the outside of a shape and we're going to find it the same way we always do there's just more sides to deal with Define the perimeter of any shape you add in the one trick with some of these shapes that not all sides will be labeled so we'll have to use what we know about Russia in the drawing to figure out the number one is down here find the perimeter of the shape this one is mostly labels all the way before you start adding cuz to get the perimeter we're going to add up all these sides but I'm going around labeled labeled label but this one right here noticed there's no number decide to add the lengths of the sides are we going to figure out how long this is we're not measuring were using the labels that are already on the shape so this right here is a wrecked opposite sides of a rectangle are equal so it's this side over here is 6 yards then we know that this side over here must also be six yards now he's going around 5-6 other parts that were missing is this part right here one way this way to picture it is if I could push 5 yards down and put it right there that come in a really lightly with a pencil sketch. This is five the opposite side right here would also be 5 and then from here to hear is 8 from here to here is 5 this part over here is unknown but we know this from this point all the way to here is this was a men's rectangle side here would be equal to a part of the rectangle so this bottom part is 24 which means from here to hear should also be 24 and the parts that we know 85 asking ourselves what number needs to go here so that this all adds up to 24 so a plus 5 is 13 so this part right here is 13 so what do I need to add to 24 to go from 13 to 24 or in other words what is 24 - 13 it's 11 so now I know that this part of the shape is 11 yards now I want to erase this five-year because that's not part of the perimeter inside the shape it doesn't actually count we were just using it to help us figure out that missing sides the numbers we need to add up our the outside side so I'm just going to start over here 3 + 24 that's twenty-seven 27 + 3 is 30 so from here to here to here that's 30 + 6 is 14 + 5 is 1919 + 6 is 2520 it's 36 to add those together 30 + 36 so it looks like the total perimeter is 66 yards check that one time around just to make sure so is 19 + 6 2525 + 36 39 + 342 wants to fence in the piece of land shown in the diagram the perimeter of this piece of material so I guess not all sides are labeled so our first problem here to solve is what are these unlabeled sides equal to so we'll start here down at the bottom so we've got this site here if I kind of picture this as one rectangle there's a second one they've actually made it easier because they're showing you that from here to here is 8 is going to be equivalent to the opposite side down here can I buy this side here so this site here is on the opposite side it doesn't have anything stops right here right here to show us how long it is we know all the way from C to B is 12 but this isn't that whole line segment what we do know is this little part it's 3 so if you can kind of Imagine again pushing this part in this line segment two together should be equal to this piece here so again this is three this is unknown but I know the three and the unknown together have to equal 12 so what is going to be and that would be nice this side right here is 9 so all we have left is this little side and again they kind of made this part easy cuz they broke this up is a two-length despite is three that we know that we have all of our label so now to get the perimeter we add up all the sides and a place to start right here at this corner and go around 3 plus 3 + 6/6 + 8 + 1414 + 12 is 2626 + 8 is 3434 + 9 is 4343 + 3 is 46 so we believe it's 46 meters I always double-check just starting here + 9 is 12 + 12 + 8 + 20 20 + 12 is 3232 + 8 + 4040 + 3 + 43 + 3 + 46 what's good are so against got a label this on label. so the two unlabeled sides are here and here getting the idea of how we can use the long side hair that's labeled as 24 and we know that. plus this I hear that's unlabeled to you right here should add up to 24 this plus this equal to this one this is six so the question is 6 + 1 what equals 24 6 Plus what is going to get us 224 and you would be doing 24 - 6 to get that and that equals 18 so this side of 18 and now we play this whole thing is 28 we know that this is the added to 12 to equal 28 so I can get this unknown part here you're going to do 28 - 12 28 - 12 is 16 and now to get the total perimeter round face adding all the sides together with 24 + 28 so that's $52 right that down + 28 is 52 + 18 + 3030 + 16 is 46 + 46 + 6 + 52 + play Kiss 104 like to double-check on so let's add it one more time and maybe a different direction lesson 36 1854 + 676 perimeter is 104 miles and that's it
