Homework

Efficient time management skills enable students to lead balanced lives of work and play. The fourth grade teachers coordinate tests and communicate regularly so that homework is manageable. Homework is usually given Monday through Thursday. It is an important extension of class lessons and an opportunity to practice concepts covered during the school day.

Homework also includes independent assignments and research, all of which are posted in the classroom. Students are encouraged to record details accurately in their Student Agenda Planners. When there is no homework in a particular subject on a given day, students are directed to write “none” under that heading.

The organized, responsible fourth grader meets deadlines and returns homework in a timely manner which is a skill needed for a successful school experience. We use HW Oops! Notices to communicate with parents when students neglect to turn in assignments on time. It must be signed by a parent and returned the next day with the completed assignment.
