To get access to reading books  - log onto McGraw Hill from portal.  Click on the book (blue button).   OR  On your dashboard, blue bar at the top of the page, click on resources. https://connected.mcgraw-hill.com/rd14s/resources.do
Click on your Reading/Writing Workshop book (with the swordfish on the front) - for Monday/Tuesday then click on the first story "Fir Tree".  If you click the left arrow you can go back to page 400.
Click on Anthology book for Wednesday and Thursday

Monday - Chapter 13 - Lesson 1 - Measuring Length in Feet

          Activity:  Find 3 objects in each category to measure their length: 
          1) Less than 1 foot
          2) More than 2 feet
          3) More than 1 foot but less than 2 feet

Complete workbook pages 75 - 78 (on pg, 78, instead of measuring items in the classroom, measure items in your house
     Enrichment:  3 feet = 1 yard.  Use a yardstick or measuring tape to find and measure 3 large items.
 
Tuesday -  Chapter 13 - Lesson 2 - Comparing Lengths in Feet

Activity:  Pick 2 different objects and measure their length.  After measuring both decide:  Which one is longer?  Which one is shorter?

     Enrichment:  Write 4 different word problems using comparison.  Make sure you use the phrases:
how much longer?  how much shorter?
 
Wednesday - Chapter 13 - Lesson 3 - Measuring in Inches

Activity:  Find a few objects to measure.  Measure 1 object that is about 1 inch in length, one that is longer than an inch, and one that is shorter than an inch.

     Enrichment:  Ask someone to draw a line they think is 3 inches long (not using a ruler).  Now measure it, how close were they?  Take turns doing this with a few different lengths.

Read Math book pages 120 - 125
Activity: Find 3 objects to measure, the objects should be less than 1 foot.  After writing down each measurement, decide which object is longest, which item is shortest?  Which method did you use to decide - count on or subtraction?

     Enrichment: 1 foot = 12 inches, 3 feet = 36 inches = 1 yard
Find and measure: the length of a book, the height of a drinking glass, the length of a fork, the height of your dining table, the length of your bed, the height of your tv.  What did you use to measure these items - a ruler, a yardstick, or a tape measure?

Below you can find Chapter 13 workbook pages (if you can't find your workbook), Problem of the lesson - to print out and try to work out the problems, Extra Practice pages (what we would normally do for homework), and Enrichment pages (for those who need a challenge).  All of these can be downloaded and printed out.  At the end of each week I will post answer sheets to these packets.
Social Studies -  Biography Report
Monday - complete Biography Influence and Legacy - found in your writing folder in One Drive - access through portal.
Wednesday - complete Biography Impotant Dates - found in your writing folder in One Drive - access through portal.  Pick 5 important events that happened in your important person's life.  The date it happened gets typed in the box on the left hand side and the event that happened gets typed in the box on the right hand side.  Almost like a timeline, but in boxes.
Friday - complete Biography Bibliography - found in your writing folder in One Drive - access through portal.
